VA Benefits

Whether you qualify for pre/post 9/11 (Chapter 33) you can use your VA benefits in either the SLCC program or directly with CSA.

Cornerstone Aviation, in conjunction with Salt Lake Community College (SLCC), is the only college program in the State of Utah offering Veterans Administration approved fixed-wing pilot training courses. Benefits are available under Chapters 30, 31, 33, 1606 and 1607 of the Montgomery G.I. Bill. CSA’s FAA Part 141 certificates, from Private Pilot to CFI, have all been approved by the Veterans Administration. Additionally, if a student has exhausted their current Chapter 30 benefits, they may be eligible to enroll directly into SLCC and receive another 12 months of Chapter 33 benefits.

GI Bill applicants must contact the VA, who will provide a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). This document explains in detail the benefits earned. A copy must be given to Cornerstone Aviation once a training class start date has been assigned. Plan ahead, as this document can take 4-6 weeks to receive. To obtain a COE, visit www.ebenefits.va.gov, select “Apply” and then select “Education Benefits.” Fill out the 22-1990 form for education benefits, or the 22-1995 form for a change of program if you have previously used your benefits or submitted for your COE on behalf of another school.
