Matt Kamenev Scholarship

Matt was a much admired pilot who trained at Cornerstone Aviation and SLCC. He earned his Private Pilot license on September 19, 2014 and was a day away from his Instrument Rating check ride, when he tragically lost his life in a skiing accident at Brighton Ski Resort. He was training to become a commercial pilot.

An avid skier since age 6, Matt was a much loved employee of Brighton Ski Resort for the last 3 seasons and was only 24 when he passed away.

Among other memorial scholarship programs that have been established in Matt’s honor, we would like to award a number of qualified Cornerstone students, the $500.00 check ride fee. It is a pleasure for us to help a Cornerstone Aviation student achieve his/her goal and pursue their passion in Matt’s memory.

To qualify for this award in a timely fashion, please submit the following by email to Florence Kamenev New at fn1952@aol.com and you will be contacted within 3 to 5 days of receipt:

  • Your full name.
  • A brief bio of yourself and how you came to select aviation as your career.
  • Verification that you are currently enrolled as a student of Cornerstone Aviation.
  • Proof that a check ride has been (or will shortly) be booked for you.
  • Information on your financial status, i.e. how you have been able to fund your pursuit of fixed wing aviation until now.
  • Your plans after receiving your pilots license.
  • The best phone number to contact you.
