This weeks CSA Pilot Profile is Larry Shumway! Larry has been a part of our team since August of 2015 and has about 600 hours under his belt. We asked him what he likes most about instructing…
“I retired three years ago after a very successful 33 year career as an educator. Most of that time was spent in leadership positions. I love the opportunity to return to teaching, especially in an environment where students are highly motivated and most of the instruction is individual or one-to-one. Aviation combines technical knowledge, science, physical skill and a mental challenge that captures and holds our attention. I think we’re motivated - instructors and students alike - by the fundamental pleasure of teaching and learning about flying, an activity that humans have dreamed of for as far back in time as we can remember. What could be better than that?!”
Larry’s most rewarding experience as an instructor at Cornerstone is being around students who begin their training with enthusiasm for aviation, and then watching that enthusiasm expand and deepen as they learn. To him, it is a pleasure to associate with people he works and instructs with who share a passion for aviation.
His goal is to continue teaching for a good long time. It is an honor to have you on our team Larry… Thank you! ... See MoreSee Less
